Troubleshooting Tips

  • Make sure you have the right password.  Some providers including HideMyAss issue a unique password for your PPTP connection that differs from the password you use to log into their client or site.  You can obtain it by logging into the HMA site and going to the PPTP server page.
  • Make sure you have the L2TP secret for L2TP connections.  If you’re not sure ask your VPN provider.
  • When all else fails contact your VPN service.  That’s what technical support is there for.
